West End
No doubt about it, the west end is a major gateway to the many offerings of Council Bluffs. West Broadway continues to be transformed as development provides decorative lighting, renovated business and the addition of major developments such as Hy-Vee grocery and the city’s latest branch of First National Bank at 25th and West Broadway. Two new viaducts at Avenue G and Broadway provide easy access to both ends of the city.
New developments include the city’s second Wal-Mart location on North 16th and Interstate 29. Housing includes affordable single family homes, apartments and more. Streets on the west end of Council Bluffs are in a grid pattern with the east and west streets being known as avenues with the distinction that the north side of Broadway are letter avenues such as Avenue A, etc., while the south side of Broadway is First Ave, etc. On the west end, as well as the entire city, you’ll find in the Council Bluffs School district renovated elementary schools plus modern and renovated middle and high schools equipped with the latest technologies and facilities for our students.
